Michael Francis Owens, 33, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, in Indianapolis. Born in Ft. Wayne, Michael worked as a Program Advisor with The Institute for Study Abroad. He graduated from North Side High in 1998 and received his Bachelors degree from Wabash College in 2002. He was a true sportsman who enjoyed playing baseball and basketball and was an avid Purdue sports fan. Mike was easygoing, incredibly patient, and skilled at working with youth. He tutored and mentored many students and inspired and touched many lives. Mike's greatest passion was bringing the world together through collegiate study abroad, something he himself experienced in Spain during his Wabash years. Mike will always be loyal to Wabash, his Wabash brothers, and their families. Those four years provided him with everything he needed and more.

Surviving are is parents Tim and Libby Owens of Indianapolis; sisters Mandy (Bill) Stetzel and Meg Owens. Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents Mike and Mary Kacala and Charles and Betty Owens.

Service is 7:00 pm, April 13, 2012 at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue. Calling at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, Friday, April 13, 2012 2pm to 7pm. Memorials may be made to the James S. McFadden Resource Center, an educational service for at-risk students, 4527 Shenandoah Circle West, Ft. Wayne, IN 46835.
