Nicholas Markoff, 89, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Heritage Park Health Care Center in Fort Wayne. He was born in Indianapolis, IN and grew up in Fort Wayne. He was a U S Army WW II Veteran, was wounded during the battle of the Bulge and was awarded the purple heart. He graduated from South Side High School and earned a BS Degree from Indiana Institute of Technology and then became a professional engineer. Nicholas worked as a Mechanical Engineer with Tokheim and various other companies for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church and a member of the choir, also an active member of the Kiwanis Club and an avid fisherman. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Lois Markoff; son, Gregory Markoff of NJ; sister in law, Ann (William) Welsheimer of Orange City FL. and several nieces and nephews . Nicholas was preceded in death by parents, George and Florence Markoff, Funeral Service is Tuesday, 11:00 am, May 8, 2012 at - D.O.
