Mary Ann Miller McEvoy Wolfe, 49, of Ft. Wayne, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2012 at Parkview Hospice after a short illness. She is survived by her husband, Timothy Wolfe; her beautiful daughter, Rachael Lynn McEvoy of Ft. Wayne; mother, Clara "Midge" Miller; brothers, Bill (Elaine) Jackson of Ft. Wayne, Gene (Josephine) Miller of Bakersfield, CA, and her sister, Karen (Allan) Tucker of Lawrenceburg, KY; as well as two special friends, "Gizmo and Heidi" and a host of loving friends and extended family. Mary was born November 3, 1963, to the late Thomas E. Miller and Clara "Midge" Miller. She was baptized in the Catholic Chuch and her Godparents are Linda Eikenberry Falconer and Robert Sorg. She enjoyed a very active childhood and participated in dance school and gymnastics. She was know for her hand-over flips even into adulthood. Children she babysat for were mesmerized by watching her "flip" around the yard and house. Mary was the apple of her daddy's eyes and when she learned to drive, he was not sure he could handle it. She made things better when she gave birth to Rachael Lynn, who along with her doll Tony, became the next best thing in daddy's eyes. The loss of her daddy was a grief she carried with her through life.
As Mary grew, she began encompassing her many lifetime friends. A very giving person, she loved to help all with their worries and celebrate their happiness. Amazingly, her closest girlfriends all married and had children around the same time and their children grew up to be the best of friends.
The words Harley-Davidson were close to Mary's heart. She rode for years and her best shoes were her Harley-Davidson boots. She participated in many Poker Runs and was an avid supporter of the many causes her motorcycle group supported. She lost her dear friend and long-time riding partner Fred Dearmon a few years back and the grief surrounding his death was almost too much for Mary. She was an avid pool player and for years with the team "Who Cares". They won many tournaments and according to them, were the best pool players around. Their favorite moments according to Mary, were the "team meetings". Budweiser beer was her favorite drink and she would count the calories in beer along with the calories in her salad. Always a smile, always a laugh.
She met her husband Tim about five years ago. They married on July 1, 2008. They shared a love she waited a life-time for and although their time together was short, they lived life to the fullest. They joined their families, her daughter Rachael and her dog Gizmo ("Gizzy"), with Tim's large family, including very special grandchildren, and added another 4-legged child named Heidi. Tim's love of cooking and Mary's love of life, they mainly stayed close to home and family. Tim loves to talk about how he romanced Mary with flowers and food. Until the very end, Mary wanted to know where everyone was including her dogs. Gizmo went for some hospital visits and watching them together brought a smile to her family and her nurses. Gizmo will be attending some visitation services.
Mary was a 19-year employee of IPFW, starting out in the Bursor's Office and finally working in the Physical Plant. She graduated from Ravens Croft Beauty College and styled and cut hair on a part-time basis. On a Saturday morning, her house was the place to be to visit and get hair cuts.
She remained close with her family and her sister was her rock, as her friends would say. Karen supported Mary throughout her life and vise a versa. Wherever they were together was home and you could feel the love between them. She will be greatly missed but we all rejoice in the fact that she chose us to be in her life and are forever grateful for the love and happiness she brought our way and are blessed that she left us her beautiful daughter to love.
