Memories & Candles
Howard you were nothing but kind to me and my family. I will remember you coming into a room and filling it with your presence. I will remember that you rocked in any chair that could, especially your favorite. I will remember your tolerance of bratty kids. I will remember your generosity and willingness to share. Rest in peace.

Mary, Roger, Phil, and the the family - my thoughts and heart are with you. I always loved Howard, his humor, his smile. The best memories I have - sharing a cup of coffee with Howard at the swing in front of the house early in the morning. Howard and Betty were always supporting me during the hardest times of my life. I will always remember them. Love you all very much,

We did talk when May and I visited Wayne and Dorthy. I had a very good talk with Phil at Wayne's service.

My thoughts are with the Fortmeyer family in this rough time. I remember growing up at the truck stop. My mom and dad both drove trucks and we spent a lot of time at the truck stop. I remember comming in and Mr. Fortmeyer would always have a kind word for us kids. Thank you for being there for us kids. We are grandparents now and our grandkids like to go into a truck stop and watch all the trucks come in.

We have known Howard through the truck stop for many years! I don't think I ever saw him come in that there was not a smile on his face and hugs for everyone! My Mother was at Heritage Park a couple of years ago while Howard was there. Many times I would go to see Mom and there was Howard holding her hand comforting her just because that was Howard!! We'll miss you Howard and your smiling face. Skip and Lori

Howard and Wayne were the only Fortmeyers brothers I was blessed to have met in my adult life. I had probably met them as a child too since my father worked at Fortmeyers in the offices so many years ago. Rest peacefully Howard and God bless your family during this time of loss!!
