Mary and family, please know you are in our hearts and prayers. They don’t come better than Gene Ashby, just ask my mom, Agnes Shadle. “Gene is one of the kindest men I’ve ever known” was her standard description of her “boss” at Ms. Virginia’s. Tuesday mornings in heaven will never be the same now that the two of them are in charge! St. Peter has his hands full.
Our faith allows us to go on, but family and friends hold our hands and hearts on earth. With our sympathy.

Ms Mary, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Mom, Mae Thomas always thought the world of Gene same as she thinks the world of you. Unfortunatly Mom is not feeling well and she is sick about not being able to come pay her respects. We will be making a donation to Ms Virginia's house in his honor to show our love and respect.
May God bless you and your family.

I've come to know Gene during his time volunteering at the Cathedral Museum. I was lucky enough to have quick chats with him while I opened and closed the museum. He was such a wonderful man who always spoke very highly of his family. I will miss our monthly chats greatly. My thoughts and prayers to your family.

I am so sorry to hear of Gene's passing. The Ashby & Klausing family share wonderful, loving & fun memories of each other. Gene was always there at the family gatherings with a big grin and funny stories to tell. It was always a pleasure to be around him! I only wish that we could have continued the gatherings and seen each other more in the recent years. Our hearts go out to you, Mary, and all the Ashbys. Your

Dear Ashby family,

Even though I am on the road this week I wanted you to know I am thinking about your family. I remember all the good miles that Gene and I traveled together. God bless you all.
